Daily Activities During the COVID-19
As communities and businesses are opening and more and more people getting vaccinated, you may be looking for ways to resume some daily activities as safely as possible. How can we do our daily activities safely while protecting ourselves and others from COVID-19? It is important to assess risk of an activity. Risk assessment depends on many factors such as:
Understand the situation in our community and the state. What local orders are in place in our community?
Are we at increased risk for serious illness from COVID-19?
Is COVID-19 spreading in our community?
Will we have a potential close contact with someone who does not wear a mask (and may be aymptomatic) or someone who is sick?
Do I live with someone who is at risk for severe illness?
Are we taking everyday preventative steps to protect ourselves from COVID-19?
Experts have said that the more closely we interact with others and the longer that interaction, the higher the risk of COVID-19 spread. CDC cannot provide the specific risk level for every activity in every community. They encourage us to consider our own personal situation and the risk for us, our family, and our community before venturing out. Here are some questions to consider:
How many people will be there?
Will the space be indoors or outdoors?
Will we spend a lot of time with others?
If we do decide to engage in public activities, we can protect ourselves by practicing everyday preventative actions to protect ourselves and others from COVID-19. For example, have items on hands when going out such as a mask, tissues, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, if possible and so on. Wash our hands often. Cover coughs and sneezes and avoid close contact with others.
